  1. Album title appears as "The Best of the Move" on sleeve front & spine, and as "First Move" on center labels. C1 to C4 originally released on Deram Records. D6 would eventually appear as an album track on The Move - Looking On, in late A3 to A6, and B1 to B3 are stereo album tracks. D5 and D6 are stereo single versions.4/5(39).
  2. Comment: Original A&M Double LP release. Vinyl has a few very light scuffs that do not affect play. Fully play tested with minimal surface noise. Gatefold album jacket has light disc wear and a remainder notch. Original inner sleeves with /5(16).

  6. In my view, probably the best single CD overview of The Move, a very much underrated band. Stand-out track for me is Omnibus, which doesn't appear on all Move compilations. This retrospective, plus Roy Wood's Boulders and Mustard, definitely worth investigating by anyone who only knows The Move from their better-known singles such as I Can Hear /5(16).
  7. The group's name seems to refer to the move various members of these bands made to form the group. Beside Roy Wood, the original members of the Move were drummer Bev Bevan, bassist Chris "Ace" Kefford, vocalist Carl Wayne & guitarist Trevor Burton. Their first single, 'Night of Fear' was released in and was the first in a line of memorable.
  8. Additionally, whether or not this is actually "the best of the Move" is a matter of contention -- one could make a case for a compilation of that name that would draw on a few of their album tracks as well. It also has competition from Omnibus, a double-CD set containing all of their single A- and B-sides, albeit at a heftier price.
